Samsung Confirms Chrome-Based Netbook
Samsung Australia has confirmed that it’s currently working on a netbook using Google’s Chrome OS. However according to Channel News, the device won’t be incorporated into Samsung’s 2010 lineup until later this year.
Phil Newton, head of Samsung IT Australia, told Channel News that the device will feature a 12-hour battery life, built-in WiFi and 3G connectivity, a default 2 GB of RAM, and at least 64 GB of HDD space. Newton also added that the Chrome-based netbook will be similar to Samsung’s Pine Trail N210, which features a 10.1-inch LED screen.
Channel News was unable to confirm the processor and chipset, but speculates that the device will use Qualcomm’s 1.5 GHz Snapdragon processor.
Samsung S2 Portable HDD Comes With MJ’s “This is it”
Samsung Electronics has announced the Samsung S2 Portable, a fully transportable external hard drive, pre-loaded with Michael Jackson’s THIS IS IT’.
Timed with the DVD and Blu-ray Disc release of THIS IS IT, the pre-loaded external HDD will be available at major European retailers from February 22, 2010.
“We are excited to present this movie starring Michael Jackson, the greatest entertainer of all time, pre-loaded on the Samsung S2 Portable,” said H.S. Lee, Vice President, Storage Marketing, Samsung Electronics.
Samsung’s S2 Portable has a capacity of 500GB, has USB On Board Technology and supports various user-friendly features such as Samsung Auto Backup that enables real-time or scheduled backup and SecretZone that encrypts and stores data on a virtual drive as well as SafetyKey, a powerful data-security function that offers dual data protection through a password.
The special edition will be available through retailers in Europe from February 22nd. Availability in other regions will be determined following the initial launch.
New Dual-SIM, Touchscreen Handset From Samsung Announced
Samsung Electronics has added to its portfolio of touchscreen dual-SIM handsets with the launch of the B5722.
The Samsung B5722 allows users to pre- set the SIM change-over time automatically, depending on economical operator tariffs or to ensure a work/personal life balance. The dedicated SIM switching key and intuitive touch interface makes the changeover a seamless experience. The handset also provides the added benefit of one touch access through 6 SNS widgets on the home screen. The phone also offers instant messaging services through Palringo messenger which helps users to connect to Google Talk, AIM, ICQ and supports exchange of text messages through Bluetooth Messenger.
The phone also offers a 2.8” QVGA full touch screen display, 3 MP camera with image editor, Bluetooth, hi-speed USB , 8 GB expandable memory 1200 mAH battery, and 13.4 hours of talk time. The new B5722 also provides 3D sound output through DNSe. Users can tune into FM radio for audio entertainment and can continue to listen to the background music even as they access various phone applications. The phone also comes equipped with an advanced mobile tracker, which has been introduced for the first time for the Dual SIM touch phone segment.

Samsung Launches Yet Another Omnia Handset in India

In keeping with its brand positioning of ‘NEXT is What’, Samsung has strengthened its Omnia series with the launch of the Omnia II–GT I8000. The I8000 looks exactly like the Samsung Jet with a larger display.
Announcing the launch, Ranjeet Yadav, Director IT and Telecom, Samsung Electronics said, “Omnia II is designed to take user experience to the next level. It captures our vision to provide phones to the consumers which are not only great looking but provide even greater functionality and usability using latest technologies and messaging platforms”.

Samsung Officially Launches the Monte
Samsung Electronics has officially launched the Monte (GT – S5620).
The Monte combines a smooth curvy design with the intuitive TouchWiz 2.0 Plus User interface and features a suite of social network applications including Facebook and MySpace, allowing users to access their profiles whenever and wherever they choose. The phone comes with a Multi Instant Chat Messenger a universal Instant Messenger. In addition Monte users can enjoy full internet browsing, with an accelerometer sensor allowing the onscreen image to automatically adjust as you rotate the phone.
Users of Samsung Monte can push their e-mail, calendar, and contacts from their Google accounts to their phone through Google Active Sync technology. The phone is also equipped with navigation features with GPS supported by Google Latitude with a built-in version of the most advanced Google Maps Version 3.0. With this GPS support users will always know where they are and can keep their friends updated on their location at all times.
