Sony gives the Indian Blu-Ray Market a Push
Sony in India plans big initiatives for the Blu-ray market with the introduction of Blu-ray audio-visual products at a starting price of Rs. 9,990 and doubles the number of Blu-ray movie titles to 500.
Blu-ray enabled products will be available in a wide range of products including Blu-ray Disc players, Home Theatre systems, PlayStation3 & VAIO, which will provide High Definition picture and audio quality as well as internet connectivity to consumers. Sony India Launches VAIO X Series Notebooks

Sony has launched the “world’s lightest” notebooks with the VAIO X Series.
The VPCX113KG model weighs 655 gms with 3.5 hours battery life and 14 Hrs Optional LL battery.
It also features:

Sony Launches W Series Vaio Netbook in India

Sony’s entry into the netbook market the VAIO W Series mini notebook has been launched in India.
The W models come in three colors – berry pink, sugar white and cocoa brown – incorporating a 1366 x 768, LED backlit 10.1-inch (measured diagonally) ultra-wide display, isolated keyboard, built-in webcam and microphone, 160GB hard drive and comes pre-installed with Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition operating system. Built into every model is a VAIO Multimedia Suite, a collection of video and photo editing tools that make it easy to create high-quality home movies, slideshows and more. It features built-in Wi-Fi and comes with VAIO Media plus Multimedia Streaming software, a media sharing application that lets users wirelessly stream content across DLNA(R)-enabled devices throughout the home network. Users can also stream video music and pictures from their W Series to their compatible primary PC or PS3 and vice-versa.
Users can easily transfer data, such as photos from a digital camera or music from an MP3 player, to and from the PC with the unit’s two USB ports. Incorporated Bluetooth technology enables wireless peripherals to be utilized.
The VAIO W Series mini notebook will retail for Rs. 29,990 at all Sony Center stores and retail partners across the country.
Sony Unveils New Line of Notebooks

Sony has unveiled a new line of life style oriented notebooks – the VAIO NW series.
The 2-tone color VAIO NW notebooks have a clear touch pad, a 15.5-inch Real Wide screen, an Intel Pentium Processor T4200 (2 GHz), a 160 GB HDD, 2 GB of RAM, HDMI output, wireless LAN and Bluetooth, while Windows Vista Home Basic 32-bit comes pre-installed.
The laptops in the series also feature:
- Quick Web Access function – one push to launch directly into the web without having to wait for the Windows operating system to load.
- Display Off button – conserves the power by letting users turn off the screen while the notebook continues to function in the background for a quick resume.
- PMB (Picture Motion Browser) – an easy-to-use organizer to keep memorable photos and videos.
- VAIO Movie Story – an easy way to produce high-quality home movies
- VAIO MusicBox – a fun and automated way to enjoy music based on one’s mood.

Sony Vaio Z and Y Series Laptops are First With Wi-fi Sharing Feature
The VAIO Z and Y Series PCs are the world’s first out-of-the box laptops that act as a personal hotspot. Select models of these series feature the exclusive new Sony embedded wireless technology called Share My Connection (SMC). With SMC you can turn your laptop into a mobile wireless access point that can connect up to five other PCs or networked devices, such as smartphones, mp3 players, and cameras. Of course a subscription is required.
The Z model offers premium portability and serious power as it weighs in at just 3.0 lbs. It features a durable carbon fiber and aluminum casing and is supposed to deliver up to seven hours of battery life for true mobile freedom. It incorporates a 13.1-inch high-resolution LED backlit widescreen display, that should deliver a bright picture with 100 percent color saturation. The extremely thin unit also comes with an optical drive (Blu-ray optical drive optional).
The Y Series laptops comes in five colors including purple violet, fuchsia pink, pear green, teal blue and black. With a thin 1.2-inch profile and 13.3-inch LED backlit widescreen display, the sleek Y model offers lower power consumption for improved battery life for that active student lifestyle.
They’re priced at about $770 for the VAIO Y Series and $1,950 for the VAIO Z Series.
