What is Internet Marketing (SEO - Search Engine Optimization), (SEM - Search Engine Marketing) and (Search Engine Submission)?
When you break down the actual components of Internet marketing, it all comes down to variants of coding a website to meet the requirements of the search engines.
While there are many ways to grow your presence online, one of the truest ways to make sure your efforts will continue to work for you years from now, is to be sure your efforts are properly optimized.
From press releases to blogs to articles to whitepapers, anything that appears online should be optimized, since you never know how someone will first come to learn of your product or service.
Videos uploaded to YouTube or Google video should be optimized. Podcasts can be optimized. Your RSS feed can be optimized.
Getting the point?
Since the engines are always looking for the most relevant content, if your content is properly optimized, it has a better chance of staying ranked for long periods of time.
Anything that appears online or exists in digital format on the web can be optimized. It only takes a little bit of extra effort, but the payoff is well worth it.
-To your online success!
What exactly is over-optimization?
Optimizing your website for the Search engines – This is taught in almost all "search marketing" courses, & manuals. "Optimize each and every page of your website for the search engines" -- In fact, this false teaching is accepted quite often, that most web designers will offer to do this for you a little extra cost.
Over-optimization takes place when the website your optimized is treated “too good” by search engines. Either in terms of a sudden amount of back links, or heavy on-page optimization, your website will be blacklisted and automatically penalized.
There is a very fine line between over-optimization and spamming, and it is on this line that Google can appear to err. However, its not a mistake by the search engine, in fact, calculation for rankings is done by taking into account thousands of different factors – and a lot of importance is attached to average “trends” within the niche / keyword range that a website is being optimizing for.
The nut shell is that over-optimization is non-spamming search engine optimization that is misread by Search engines as being beyond acceptable limits, thus leading to a penalty for over optimization.
